Fuse block, a bent pin or two, a loose connection or a missed ground connection, frustrating ain’t it ?

Really frustrating. I wouldn't think the security system would do that but I have had experience with Saturns and the Passlock system.

Does the fuse box ground internally because I didn't have to disconnect any grounds, or is it all in the 3 large plugs?

Did you disconnect the negative cable from the battery?

Did you remember to reconnect the positive cable to the fuse box?

Did you reverse the 2 red cables on the fuse box? It has happened, the smaller one powers the EPS.

What did you do that might have set the security off? Is the key icon flashing? This is not a Saturn. If you are using the same key there is no reason for security to be involved.

So I took Sunday off because I was just over it. Today I replaced the fuse box with one from a junker, and everything is back to normal but the running lights.I took the "now old box" apart and still couldn't see any problems but obviously there was so $12 later for another fuse box I'm OK with with that. I checked more of the grounds but not all because I didn't feel like tearing the car apart to get to some of the others (seats and carpet)

To answer the question "where is the relay grounded": nowhere. The BCM sends a signal, which happens to be ground.

There could be a chance that the underside of the fuse box has corroded on that contact. You can separate the fuse box to investigate, that still does not explain why the tail lights on the same circuit are working.

Another member recently posted that he got a new fuse box for $5 from a junkyard. Oh, that was you. The problem with over long threads and multiple posting.

The lines that go off the page on the right are continued on a earlier diagram I posted.

No the tail lights are not working. None of the running lights are working. Or waterfall lights

Confusing when you say "back to normal" but post #38 says otherwise.
So which is it ?

So, now the tails don't work?

From the very beginning you have been saying that just the markers are affected. 4 full pages!

Now we can narrow it down to either fuse, relay or broken wire, with bad BCM as a very long shot.

What you need is a mechanic that is getting paid enough to care about testing things and knows how to read a wiring diagram and use a DVM.
