Oil

OIL

So I have always used the $21 mobil conventional oil, but I found mobil 1 (synthetic) for $24 for a 5qt jug. So when the change to synthetic and the oil light comes on, do I just reset it and kep driving until it comes on a second time?

I assume this is not an SS? SS uses Mobil 1 as factory fill. I don't know the answer, but you didn't provide enough detail, either.

He's talking about the oil life monitor on the DIC. Change the oil when it tells you to, or sooner.

When I switched from dino oil to Pennzoil synthetic many years ago the computer somehow was able to adjust the % of oil life left without any intervention on my part.

MY opinion ONLY. On my 2008 without VVT, I ran the monitor twice between changes using synthetic. On my 2011 with VVT I did the same, that was an error.

I would NOT run the engine any longer than the OLM says, no matter how good the oil is. for me I do once a year. M1 EP only.

Oil is cheap. Engines are NOT.
