Outside Temperature Sensor

This may seem excessive to some members, but my temperature sensor only registers to -22 F - anything below that and I get '- - -' for a reading. Other GM vehicles register much lower than that. Is this a sensor setting? Bad sensor? Or, is that it? Oh, yes - I'm in NW Wisconsin, and we regularly get winter temps as low as -40 F!
Thanks, Rich

Well, that thread didn't answer the question, it only provided info as to how it's supposed to work. If it's supposed to read to -40F, why doesn't it? It seems as though someone else stated that their '95 Blazer worked as it should, so is it the sensor, or is it the software? My co-worker has a 2010 Equinox, and his outside temp is fast and accurate - even at really cold temps. Last week Monday, it was -28F when I left home, and my HHR only registered -22F. When I got to work, it went from -22F to '- - -'. My co-worker's Equinox registered in at -32F. Hummm! So, what's the difference between vehicles? Both designed and built by GM. This is more an irritation than a 'gotta-fix' problem, but there's many other members asking the same question. Is there an answer? Thanks, Rich

Well geez; an explanation of HOW it works is not good enough.

Mine works perfectly.

Umm...not to belabor a pretty obvious conclusion, but if the sensor isn't working properly, it needs replaced.
