P0014 code and "fix" NEED HELP!

Not sure what the next step should be - perhaps try and determine the source of the noise (using a long screwdriver - handle against the ear, tip moved around tight against the head) might help. If the same p0014 code keeps coming up, I'd swap out that solenoid for a genuine GM one (P/N: 12655421 is the latest that I am aware of), and give that a try.

How many miles on the motor? If it's high mileage you might want to also check out the timing chain as per Donbrew.

Oddly enough it all went away. The clicking and the check engine light. I hopped in the car after work and it was fine. Might have had a piece of gunk around one of the lifters or something.

Not to be an alarmist but noise like this when they go away, they can return and that usally isn't a good thing!
I'd suggest popping the valve cover off and inspecting the timing chain guides for damage, the lifters for anything loose and for anything lying around ready to jam up and reek havoc in your engine!
