Same problem
Like the first comment, I have the same problem in a HHR 06, I hit the start button, and just the light flash, It doesn't start, so I turned on manually and a message appear on my dashboard, POWER STEERING, And the CHECK ENGINE light went on forever, now my car doesn't star with the remote and a new POWER STEERING message appear every time that I'm trying to turn on my car with the remote. I don't know what to do... (The power steering work well).

Did you try any of the troubleshooting tips listed after the initial posting? Such as downloading the check engine light codes, check the battery, check the connection they refer to in a few of the posts on page two etc.? How old is the battery?
