You can use the part numbers from Crutchfield and get better deals on ebay sometimes.

I admit I do the same thing. I try to give them my money because they’re usually a great resource but lately the advice hasn’t been a bit off and the prices are usually higher than when I piece together what I want on eBay.

If you're still looking...

Bought my stuff at Critchfield, prices was the same or better than others.
About 3 years old now, not a problem at all.

Speakers plastic cone Fosgates with protective baffles.
Pioneer MVHS600BS
Double height but also half the depth of the original
Comes with mini microphone that I mounted to the steering column
All for just under $200.00
Music sounds like a million bucks and talking on the phone thru the stereo is the best.

Yea still looking at Crutchfield, Just no rush as my temps are in the 20*s or lower :O

But Looking at a few models,
assume our speakers are 6 1/2" ? They have 5 1/2 as well as 6 1/2" listed as fits. Will 6 1/2 fit with out cutting the hole bigger ??

And in another thread someone listed GMpartswarehouse.com have 4 factory for the 100$ range !

And on Crutchfield about 200$ range with cones and harness so still a good deal for better speakers ! So I am going to go that route ! But just spent 2K$ on hearing aids so need to recover lol

Thanks again everyone for helping with my dumb questions ! HEY I'm old thats my excuse lol

The 6 1/2 should fit with no issues. As far as going with the factory speakers, I think dollar for dollar, aftermarket is the way to go. For example, I had to put my old radio back in to test something and the aftermarket radio sounded noticeably better, as expected.

I hear you about it being cold out. I put my new steering wheel in with radio controls and had to redo my radio harness in the cold but with the doors closed it wasn’t too bad. Changing the speakers, even though it doesn’t take long, might be something to wait for a warmer day, especially replacing all four.

Now if you want to spend a few more bucks, start looking for a steering wheel with radio controls. Very easy and if you look around, inexpensive swap and the mute button alone makes it worth it.

Thanks, Looks like the OEM speakers are about 1/2 price of the Crutchfield. The OEM were always OK for me ! I am not a music junkie lol But I do not mine spending 200$ for better speakers ! I will also do the part # search on E Bay as mentioned,, Thanks everyone

Steve Thanks,
A dog will be in my future for sure, They are well worth it, But man the loss of a dog is like losing a family member because they are :)
As for the Speakers I probably will stay with Crutchfield , as seems their support is pretty good, SO when I pick the brand I want to order everything in one place, Cones, pig tails and mounting brackets !
I have watched a few different You Tube videos and seems pretty basic that even a semi brain dead person like me can do it lol
And yes I do over think it lol

You’re be glad you got the good stuff from Crutchfield! Much better to have all the extra pieces when you go to install them. While you have the door panels off lube up your power windows!
I hear your sadness when you lose a pet! The fall and winter are tough for me, I lost my spaniel, Woody in the late fall of 1998, then my Springer spaniel, Lady in 2009, Sweetie’s cat , Cloe and Barny pasted away in 2005 and 2012 respectively. Always a reminder of their time here with us. And yes, they are definitely members of the family!

I lost my(I see they edited ( C o c k e r ) lol (****er) C o c k e r Spaniel) Tatum 3 years ago 3 days before here 10th birthday Miss that little pup. She was my shadow !, But I am sure soon I will get another one. Right now I get my dog fix from my kids dogs :)

As for my HHR I will snag the speakers after Christmas. Since install will not be till spring ..
The sound shop I called wanted about 500$ installed :O , But for the 200$ range and lunch for my buddy I will do it in the drive way, Plus I already have the trim tools, I watched a few video on You Tue on changing the speakers , loks like a bit of a pain but very doable with a few choice words lol...
Great idea about lubing the power windows ! And hit the hit the locks with WD 40 as well .

Thanks
