remote mirror switch problem

I'm on my second remote mirror switch. When I try to adjust either the left or right mirror a part of the switch does not work. that is; pushing the 4 way switch to the left, left mirror will not move outward and when trying the right mirror pushing the left side of the 4 way switch, the right mirror will not move to the left. the previous switch had the same problem. when I got the new switch it worked for a few months and stopped worked with the same problem. Anybody have this problem? not sure how I can troubleshoot the switch and I don't want to buy another over priced switch

Sound like a wire is broken, probably in the door conduit. Or, the connector.

Maybe I was just lucky. Cleaning worked for me, but by "cleaning" I mean polishing with pink pencil eraser, both the button contact surface and the contacts on the board. Just because they look clean doesn't mean you're getting good contact. Mine was a dogmobile so maybe saliva is a good insulator.

I agree with this.
I found really any "rubber" eraser works.
