Removing plastic running board cover piece

I purchased a carcare kit from Griot's here in Fife, WA. I got the small electric buffer, as well as the large buffer. When I have polished and waxed my rig before, I got a lot of residue on the various plastic parts around the rig. All Purpose Simple Green and a toothbrush brought the plastic pieces back to black again.

I did a search here on the site for how to remove the plastic piece off the running board without breaking anything, so I can get the small buffer head in to polish and wax that small area that is otherwise covered or has limited access due to the installed plastic piece.

After polishing and waxing I would then be able to reinstall the plastic without the white wax residue all over it. Plus I could clean the plastic while it is off easier in the long run, and be installing a clean piece of plastic.

I am sorry if this was covered before, I searched in all the differently worded ways I could think of and found no answers to my question. If someone could direct me to the thread that may have covered this subject already, it would be greatly appreciated.

Or if you can clue me in on how to go about removing this piece, that would also be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance.

It is very hard to remove and not really worth it. It is also attached two ways depending on the year.

Don't forget there are waxes that don't leave the white residue.

If you don't need to replace most detail shops would mask off the pad and detail from there then unmask thus keeping the pad wax free !
