I've had my 2010 HHR for almost a year. Started about two months ago. Sometimes when you get in the car, shut the door and start the car, the power window will not open. When you open the door (while still running), it opens, you close the door, then is ok for the rest of the trip. Does this intermittently. I don't remember it doing it when the car is off, the door is shut and the key on, but not running. I will have to try that. Any ideas?

You have a strange happenstance much like a couple of friends.

One has a Ford the other a Mercury and each have essentially the same problem you are describing. If they hit the door, rather hard, sightly in front of and below the armrest, the window switch will work. You might want to try that.

I would suggest, if this works, there is a lose wire connection.

 

Bingo! Snoopy pegged it Mike. You've got a bad connection in the door, or an internal fault with the window switch itself.

 

Warranty?

 

Depending on how many miles are on the vehicle, this should be something covered under the Bumper to Bumper limited warranty.

mine does it if I happen to have the button pushed when I start the car... I wait about 10 seconds and it works fine after that.
