Speedometer not working/ not calibrated
I had speedometer issues on my 2007 HHR. Adding a stopped position my speedometer was way below zero as far down as it could go. Once I hit about 30 to 35 miles an hour it was start registry, however, incorrectly. So I took the instrument cluster panel out of the vehicle took the needle off of the speedometer motor shaft, put the needle back on at about the 40 mile per hour position, rolled it back until it hit the zero point, then I turned the ignition on an off a couple of times to make sure that I was at true zero for the shaft, removed the needle once more, pushed the needle back onto the shaft at the zero mark on the speedometer gauge. I downloaded a free speedometer app on my smartphone and tested for accuracy on the test drive and now speedometer works just fine. From start to finish took about 45 minutes including test drive.
Speedometer
Yes yes, I had tried the conversion from kilometers also to check that early on. however when I went to remove the instrument cluster panel the two retaining screws that are on the bottom of the cluster itself that hold it into the dash assembly were missing. My guess is that they had replaced the motor for the speedometer before and they did not calibrate to zero before putting everything back together again. They had also cracked the clear plastic face of the assembly housing so it looks like they wrestled with it not really knowing what they were doing. I wouldn't have necessarily known what to do either without YouTube LOL.
