spongy brake

I have a 2011 HHR LT and i have that spongy pedal feeling randomly in my car the pedal goes straight to the floor and won't stop, the car slows down nut like its sliding! I have to pump pump pump pump the brakes to get it to stop! Scared the hell out of me every time it happens! I also have an issue when I first start my car up in the AM where I have trouble;e getting the shift to move to get it in gear to drive! Anybody else have these issues???

If you are not a mechanic the thing to do is find one before you drive the car another foot. You do understand you are putting lives in danger?

If you are a mechanic you should fix the brakes before you kill somebody.

What in the heck are you doing running this by a forum when you RANDOMLY encounter a serious braking problem?

Seriously, you need to stop driving it and have it towed to a shop that can diagnose and fix it. Ie: a brake shop or even a dealership if you are so inclined. But you really really need to stop driving it.
If you cause and accident and injure someone with the braking problem you will be held totally at fault - and that can ruin you for the rest of your life financially and possibly physically.

Regarding the gear shift issue - you need to have the transmission checked by a transmission shop - it might just be low on fluid or a myriad of other causes.

Lady! Do not do this anymore.
It looks like you have a powerful guardian angel. But someday he will get tired.

Could well be - but my first thought was "dang there is someone that should never be allowed to drive if they don't appreciate how dangerous what they are doing is ".
