Steering Rack Rebuild?

****** Not a "How To". Needs to be moved.*******
As far as a kit. Probably is but much easier to just buy a complete rack unit if that's what you need.
Part number ? Don't know because you didn't say what year, make and model.

Its a 2009 ls model. Its and HHR.. Also I don't need one. I'm just wondering if there's a rebuild kit. I know buying one is obviously easier. It's also way more expensive and I have my old one.

No steering rack rebuild kit I’m aware of , I ended up replacing the rack in Oldblue, the input shaft bearing and pinion gear were toast!
the rack is a know weak point , so possibly that’s why there’s no kit.

Thank you.. It does definitely seem to be a weak point. Ive had this car for going on 4 years and this will be the 2nd one.

Be sure to torque the rack bolts to 81 ft-lbs or you could get a clunk sound at times. It is possible to get a torque wrench on the bolts, but you will have to re-set the socket after every ratchet click. Very difficult but not impossible.
