Struts replaced now out of warranty, broken bolt

Hello everyone,

My 06 HHR front struts were replaced under warranty for leaking fluid. The front right was placed while in warranty but the front left was replaced at 40K under the good faith agreement.

Now at 60K when I go over bumps there is a slight clunking in the left side. I popped the hood and looked at the three bolts that secure the strut into place and one of them is completely gone (as in the bolt was over-torqued and snapped the top of the bolt off). Is this something the dealer would fix at their cost? Just wondering because its not something that would happen from wear and tear. Yes I do still have the bolt and nut that snapped off.

Thats funny(not really) because i'm taking my 06 in next week for struts. I've had a few cars with double the miles and never had to replace the struts.

I'm going to try to replace the nut and bolt myself. Hopefully it's possible.

it will be easy. if there is anything left of the bolt you can use a punch and hammer it out. then replace it with like sized grade 8 bolt. it wil be a pain cause you will need a wrench on the bottom side unless you know someone that can tack weld it in place. i have had my struts in and out about 20 times since i started putting air bags on so i know you can. i was gonna flip the bearing so i pushed them out on one strut but changed my mind
