Temperature issue.

Hi to everyone. I am new to this site and I have a question about my 2006 with a 2.2 engine. About 2 weeks ago without notice, my temperature gauge started to fluctuate and the temperature reading got up to 230+. I had the thermostat replaced because I've heard that usually is the problem. I still have the same issue with the new one in and I have not seen 1 check engine light the whole time. The car drives like nothing is wrong but I don't want to cause any damage to the engine. There are no leaks anywhere and I haven't smelled any coolant at any point. Could this be the result of a bad sensor or a computer problem that doesn't show a check engine light? Any help and info will be appreciated. Thanks to everyone in advance.

Check the coolant level first....if it was doing the same thing as before the thermostat, then your waterpump may be having issues

Thanks for the input. I had the radiator topped off and will take it to a shop to see if it's the water pump in question. Thanks again.

Also check to see if the radiator cooling fan is functioning.

One thing to note: if the temp gets to 230F the computer is supposed to go into limp home mode, you would notice a severe lack of power.
Sounds mostly like the fan switch to me.

I can definitely understand why you would want to get this issue looked at. If you private message me your name, address, phone number, vehicle identification number, and current mileage I can do some research on your concern and see what options you have available.
