I have a ever so slight ticking sound that sounds even across the top of the motor. Do not know if I just never heard it before or just caught my attention to night for the first time. You can not hear it with the hood closed and sounds like it goes away once off idle. Car runs smooth and good proformance, Any thoughts?

Probably the electric fuel injectors....they make a ticking noise.

Raise the hood and listen more carefully. Bet the sound emanates from that area.


EDIT: and should say it is nothing to worry about......unless it really gets loud.

 

Thanks Snoopy. I have heard that before on another post I remember reading.

 

My injectors are real loud and the noise does not go away. I have decided to live with it, since I'm getting good MPG and power.

I am suspecting that if the noise goes away upon warming up, you may be looking at noisy valve lifters. Also not a big worry point.

 

Wrong wrong wrong....its the chipmunks teeth rattling because of the cooler weather.....
