Timing chain motor trashed?

Fireman I wish everything low miles had the crap ripped out of them and exposed to rain etc 4 had throttle bodies ripped off and hood up and Intakes had water in them. Keep in mind these are $250 motors you pull yourself. This is my only car and at this point I can’t even get to work. I’m single I live alone and don’t really have friends other than my dog. I got denied for a loan against my bike today so I’m kinda screwed. I live in Ohio and you can’t ride a 1 liter sports bike in the snow.

Well, you are going to need some guidance since we don't even know which engines and variants are in the potential donor cars.
I know that 2006 HHR is not compatible with 2008 HHR, different ignition system/different sensors.
How does one pull an engine in the yard?

Well the place is called pullapart they loan you a 4 wheeled device with a hoist and you have at it. I have seen that video before. It’s a trip I loved it.
donbrew I have looked and decoded the vins on all three cars and compaired the options to the hhr. They are same motor listed wise. I do find the same problem as you the 06 cobalt is based off the earlier version 2.2. However they changed for 07-08 I’m lucky enough to not have VVT on my 08 however if I did there would be less expensive better options. The worst case I have found is I may need to change fuel rail intake and exhaust. Exhaust depends if it’s drilled or not for Cali emissions. I’m more stressing picking the wrong one or messing up changing the chain before I install it.
