This sounds very similar to what our 2006 HHR is experiencing right now. I'm going to keep an eye on your thread. Please continue to update and I'll do the same. We'll get to the bottom of this! Thanks!

I have burned up 2 of those "in the plug" small inverters, and melted 2 adapters for a 200Watt inverter. The power outlet is somewhat deformed now.

The only load is a AC to DC adapter to a laptop computer, but gets hot with no load.

You quoted the text, and then misquoted it. I did not say anything about the inverter overheating. I clearly was talking about resistance causing heat AT THE ADAPTER/OUTLET INTERFACE. If you are going to include a quote, at least read it.

The original intent was to point out that my battery is starting to show it's age at 2 years/100,000 miles, and how I am noticing the fact. In keeping with the original thread.

Glad it is resolved. There have been a few posts about dead batteries lately for some reason.

Bummer only 2 years, but sometimes you can buy a new one that is defective.... I'd be glad it is ONLY the battery...

When buying a NEW battery always check the date code as some auto part stores will move the older batteries to the front and the newer ones in back be careful what you buy.
