ZZP FULL INTAKE, bring 'em out.
The placement of the filter is basically the same as the much discussed CGS intake that so many times was slammed for the placement of the filter. Now I don't want to restart that mess, and I don't think any of the posters in this thread were around for those discussions.
The main point was how was an open filter in the front of the engine bay without any heat shield better than any other filter which was protected, in varying degrees, and got fresh air from the wheel well.
My turbo set-up has the filter going to the exact same spot as this unit looks like it's going to be. Personally, I rather the filter had more heat protection and got more fresh air. I did dynos on mine, before turbo but with nitrous, using CGS, GMPP, and the stock unit. The only one which showed any real difference from stock was the GMPP. The CGS was actually slightly less than stock.
Steve,
For those of us who don't want to get retuned to fix the fuel trims with either a stock or Stage 1 kit, does the silicone tube mate up to the factory airbox? I'd like to at least use the tube, but retain my factor airbox. We know there's gains to be had with just the inlet tube!

so in other words, you will have to tune for this mod. if you don't,you will more than likely get a cel and maybe not get the full potential of the mod. is this correct??? if so, i will wait to see what others are getting. $280.00 is too much for the unknown. not knocking, but would like to see some results from zzp r&d.
i'm looking for/want an intake that is truly "bolt on" and not have to tune for. i really don't want to pay $280,then gonna pay some more money for vince to tune it. can't do that right now.

Get with Matt or Steve they can send Vince details or rent data cable from Vince
I know I don't have a SS, but I have been around this board since near the beginning and am surprised that this design is getting so much praise.

They are looking into a heat shield
Uhm if you have tune by Vince he should update no charge
"Q: What if I make more modifications to my car later? Do I have to pay for another program? A: It depends on what you change and what needs to be changed in the program. If it’s something minor, such as a speedometer recalibration, for example, because the gears, tires, or wheels were changed, we will do a “retune” for $75 + full shipping. Another example of a minor change would be adjusting the cooling fans for an aftermarket thermostat.
However, if the changes are “major”, for example a new fuel and spark table are required because of a cam swap, we offer a “retune” for the regular price, minus 15%.
Feel free to ask us before you make your mods whether it’s considered a “minor” or “major” modification."
This is directly from Trifecta's site...unless he changed some things recently..?
you shouldnt have to get an updated tune to run this pipe....if you have a trifecta, or a ZZP tune, your stock turbo is pretty well maxed out anyways, more air in will yield more power.... if your car is 100% bone stock, yes, it'll likely learn down somewhat......but not on a car that is already tuned.
He had to update my tune for my Dejon SRI...and he charged me $75.00...

i will pass...unless vince and zzp work something out for cutomers like myself.

just actually looked at the intake and i must say,so far i'm sold. just want to see numbers as far as a dyno sheet or something.
I think I own a freak SS. When I changed my paper filter to the K&N, while running Trifecta, the car was pegging the boost needle, granted the stock gauge is inaccurate, but the power was insane, I was happy. Next time I started the car it was back to running at 24,25 max. The car did the exact same thing when I installed the IC and hotside pipe, I only had stg-1, then , but the first time I started it it was hitting 27 pulling like crazy. Next time I started it, 21 again. Vince said it was the learndown when it happened the first time, before I tuned , and said I was insane the second time, swears he turned it off, well I probably am insane but I was driving a rocket, it did happen, and I want it back.
