Angry Almost 5 years and this crops up

I guess with the amount of rain Southern California's been getting, a typical HHR problem raised it's ugly head. This afternoon leaving work I pull out of the parking lot and I hear this gurgling sound. Look down and I see 2 inches of water on the passenger side carpet.

It's at the dealer now and time for me to use the forum search function to see what the actual problem could be. I have a feeling I'm going to have to tell the dealer how to fix the problem rather than visa versa.

Probably a leak up in the cowl, there is a rubber gasket thingy(don't know how else to describe it), located under the cowl trim(passenger side)that seems to fail for some folks. I have heard that this is very easily damaged during a windshield replacement if the installers aren't careful. Have you ever had the glass replaced?

I just found the link for this

https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/show...ht=butyl+patch.

A couple years ago I had a cracked cowl replaced...this is probably when seal integrity was compromised.

Yeah that's the thing I was talking about and I think you're on target with your diagnosis.

Sorry to hear that D. Once it gets all sorted out get a few boxes of baking soda. A couple to spread in the carpet, let sit, vacuum out ( go to the coin wash and use theirs ). Then once dry a box open in the car to soak up any leftover musties.

Sorry Daryl, I hope all is fixed soon. A few years ago I had a leak in the same place, never happened again. Hope you are this lucky. Todd (Uma)

Oh gee, that is a horrible PITA, Daryl! Anything this time of year - it's just that much worse trying to get repairs or service. Sounds curable, tho... best of luck, buddy.
