2008 HHR SS Brake Problems

I own a 2008 HHR SS with serious brake issues. GM refuses to admit there is even a problem and sent me off to drive away in an unsafe vehicle. If you are one of the many people having brake problems with your 2008 HHR SS (auto) please contact

Green Welling LLP - National Class Action Attorneys
rsgclasscounsel.com
415-477-6700

They are evaluating the 2008 HHR SS brake issue. They have not yet decided to take the case, but they are gathering information. They need additional information so if you too are experiencing problems with your HHR SS brakes, please contact them and provide them with information. GM needs to fix the problem or work with us in finding a solution, not send us away driving unsafe vehicles. Not everyone is experiencing this problem. If you are not, disregard. If you are, help may be at hand.

Well, I am finally at the finish line with my buy back. I did all the paperwork and I turn the keys in to the 08' SS tomorrow and pick up my new 09' SS . I must say GM did a great job taking care of the problem for me and the dealership (Walker Chevrolet) was A++++ they kept me in the loop throughout the build and buyback process and they even helped me negotiate a better buyback deal from GM.... It has been a long 3 months but now that its all done I would say it was worth the wait.

P.S. I will post pics tomorrow

I bought my SS on July 9th and have had it back to the dealership 3 times for the brakes and they won't take it back anymore. I've since had an attorney write a letter and have also gotten the local television investigative reporter involved. The TV guy got their attention. I love the car except for the brake problem. Had an '06 LT2 with only 15000 miles that I traded for the SS, only because I wanted the bigger engine and the SS exterior. Had I known the problem I never would have traded. The '08 only has 2400 miles on it. My last chat with GM rep was that he had to get his boss' approval on giving me my 0% financing I have on this one and it's been over a week since I've heard from them. I really don't see why they're dragging their feet on this. It seems like a no brainer to me.

I'm confused, are you trying to get the brake issue resolved, or are you trying to get 0% financing on a car you bought over 4 months ago?

P.S. the SS motor is smaller

They are supposed to buy my '08 back and order me a '09 to replace it, but I've got 0% financing on it, so since they don't have the fix for it, they should give me the same finance deal on the new one since I'd be keeping the one I have if they could have fixed it. I've only got 2400 miles on it.

P.S. I know it's actually a smaller engine but with the turbo it is a lot quicker and handles better than the LT2 I had. The turning radius in tighter on the SS.

They are obligated to resolve the problem (which, as we know from this and other threads, they're working on). You're not entitled to a big bonus... though companies sometimes do that as a sign of goodwill. If you're getting an '09 in place of an '08, you just got an $x000 bonus because the new car has zero miles and is one model year newer. Asking for your old 0% isn't an unreasonable thing to put on the bargaining table, but I don't see you as ENTITLED to it or them as OBLIGED to it. They're "fixing" your issue with a new car.
