FE5 Balljoints
Over last weekend I installed some moog ball joints on my 08 SS. I went on the assumption that the ball joint should be compatible with the FE5 suspension. The last couple days of driving it actually felt worse so I jacked it up last night to find that the ball joint shaft that goes into the knuckle was loose to the point I could move it about 1/8th of an inch side to side without much effort. It seemed to fit up ok initially, but last night I had to crank the retention bolt way past spec to get it to close around the ball joint shaft and stop moving. I was so angry I put it back together with the bolt cranked and never drove it because I am worried about wrecking the knuckle. I looked up joints online and Moog has the same PN for the FE3 and FE5 suspensions so I am starting to wonder if I just cut off the correct ball joints to install the wrong ones? I can’t imagine GM would use a different ball joint with only 0.020 - 0.030” more meat on it… would they?
Has anyone put on Moog #K80567 ball joints on an SS? (I did send a note too moog last night to get some sort of feedback)

Where did you end up getting the arms from? I have to find a place to order from asap. The stealership wants $330 each here in canada. F'n ridiculous.
I bought mine at Crate Engine depot for $120 each / saved about $80 each!

HHR SS Control Arms
This has been a nightmare , i have my car on stands because the Moog parts do not fit and the new AC Delco arms don't fit and i used my VIN on the GM site to get the correct part numbers. This is BS. On top of that my original arms that i threw out a month ago were aluminum as were the Moog but the GM are steel. I dont get it but this is a very dangerous situation. I almost ended up in a ditch when the car went squirrely after a right turn with acceleration with the Moog parts. And of course when i finally find a fix i may need new knuckles as well from damage. I found out long ago the local Auto Stores do not have SS parts. They are all incorrect. Tomorrow i have to call GM to try to resolve this. I wish i did not throw my original arms because i want to measure the Stud. All the ones i have the stud is 20mm. Too small.
From page 4 of the Common part numbers thread

Lower Control Arm - SS models ONLY (FE5 suspension) IMPORTANT: they are only available thru GM - No after-market suppliers make a compatible part at this time, even though they may say the parts they have are for all HHR's
- GM - P/N: 25930724 - Right
- GM - P/N: 25930725 - Left
(note: Do NOT substitute a FE1 or FE3 LCA - the ball joint stub on them is not compatible with the spindle on a FE5/SS)
There are the two part numbers, they are GM part numbers, if you bought them over the Internet , caveat emptor !
