I looked through most of the threads in the HHR SS sections for a similar post, soooooo. I have a strong idea what the root cause is, but I just want additional feedback from those that really know (aka: been there, done that). I have a hummmm in my right front side of my 2010 HHR SS. It is not noticeable until about 45 mph and then seems to go away at about 55. It does not increase or decrease wile going around a curve either and no vibration. My diagnosis is a wheel hub. Any other possibilities? Tubo, alternator, etc? Also, does anyone have the specific part number for the HHR SS wheel hub? Many of the folks at the parts stores and web tell me they do not know (some convinced I don't know) there is a difference. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. wheel balance, hub, CV, alternator, AC compressor, serpentine idler and disc brakes are all suspects.
hubs can be easily checked jack the wheel up and check for end play .005 inch is the limit, if you can sense it, it is worn out.

Most likely hubs, replace both at the same time, don’t go cheap, get the correct hubs for your SS , because the LT hubs will throw codes for ABS as the SS has different requirements for voltage signal

Ya'll are awesome. Will be checking that toooonight. Thanks. It's at 145,000 miles and replaced the CV shafts last fall. So, expected hubs to be soon. In retrospect, I should have changed them then.

Splines diameter are also different on the SS model

Yes, I am a high quality nut job and what I found is the universal hub part for the HHR SS will have 513214 in it. The high quality(IMO) Mevotech hub part number is specifically TXF513214. Amazon it is $113.67 and RockAuto is $89.79 + $14.99 FedEx shipping ($104.78). There are just too many complaints in the reviews for the cheaper ones. IMO. Thanks again.

Replace both! Torque the bolts and the axle nut, brake caliper brackets and lug nuts.

Not saying it's the problem. But that kind of noise can come from a delaminated or otherwise defective tire. Before you mess with the wheel bearings, it would be prudent to swap the two front tires and see if the noise seems to move.

Okay. Didn't get to look at it last night. Son's home lost a circuit and the maintenance guy (dad) was summoned. :) Will try to look at it tonight. Thanks again.
