If you want the FE5 specific strut, the only known one is the AC Delco. (part #'s are in the Common used parts list)
The KYB strut is not considered a FE5 spec'd unit.
Been many discussions about SS struts over the years on this site. It always comes down to, if you want to replace them with the same type performance strut that it came with, your only choice is the AC Delco ones.

The KYB are more FE3 firm and sporty touring then FE1 soft ride
Certainly not like firm and sporty almost harsh FE5.

You can break it loose with the weight of the vehicle on it. This is what I do if I think it might be tough. Just break it loose - DO NOT REMOVE IT!

I have spring compressors, air tools, and this is my top tip... PB Blaster and this.

Since no one else has mentioned it, most local auto parts places loan out spring compressors. That's really most of the job, after that (possibly rusty) top nut.

And, whenever you replace front struts, you need an alignment afterward. I do those at home, but most don't. Just plan on needing one...

Coil springs don't really wear out in normal circumstances. If there isn't deep rust, and you don't see any reason not to, I would keep them. The only time I have ever replaced springs was for performance reasons, and I understand if you want to lower it why you would, but otherwise, if they ain't broke, don't try fixing them!

OEM stands up to salt, and does what it is supposed to. Depending on what you get, it could be a crap shoot...
