I have been having this problem for a while, and I have the Stage kit and the tech used the crimp connectors. The problem comes and goes...sometimes I won't see/feel it for a month or two.

Surges at all speeds, sometimes looses all boost. Resetting the key brings it back. Even worse with the AC on. The AC seems to cause it to happen sometimes. At idle in drive with the AC on the idle is all over the place. Thinking of soldering the top MAP wires myself, the bottom ones are too difficult to get to.

Most of the dealerships around me suck, so I have grown a serious distaste of bringing it in.

I'm in day 2 for mine, I finally took it to the dealer yesterday, It just got so bad that when the boost went to about 0 lbs it would constantly surge from 0->5->0 lbs. I had the p0236 and check engine lite.

I gave them as much information as I could and as of last night they were still working with GM tech support.

I don't plan on having it back too soon.

I just got mine back from the dealer last night. Go back through this thread and you will see I have had this problem going on for over a year. I have a new turbo charger, and a brand new ECM as a result, none of which resolved the problem. My SS is completely stock sans the GM stage II kit, I even have the original tires on it.

What they said "fixed" it was like a punch line to a bad joke. I quote, "we checked the support forums and found that someone said if we rotate the air-filter it resolves the problem". Are you kidding me, is this was the fix?

Yes, they rotated the air-filter. I brought up the fact that in our cars the air filter is a cylinder on the end of tube, and that it is omni-directional and you really can’t install it incorrectly.

I ask them what else did you do? His reply was that we checked all the electric connections and vacuum hoses and we even pulled the front bumper off to check the piping for leaks.

Someone chime in here and straighten me out if I am wrong, I call bullsh*t on the dealer. A car does not surge, the turbo boost does not "flap" like a birds wing, and specific error codes are thrown over the course of a year, because the brand new OMNI-DIRECTIONAL AirFilter needed to be rotated.

Chevy Mgr, what do you think? Anyone else have an idea?

Right now the car works like a champ... time will tell.

I agree with this as my boost issues plagued me too. They checked all the above too. The air filter thing......uh....sounds like BS to me.

Well I just heard back on mine. I was told it was my Aerotech interceptor scangauge. They said once they unplugged it the car is running fine. I'll pick it up tonight and see - I just have a hard time believing that the gauge changed the way the car controlled boost by reading output signals.
I hope it's true and I don't have to go back on Monday.

Did the dealer hit you with a bill because they had to troubleshoot a non-standard equipment issue that was not covered under warrenty?

Not to freak you guys out, but I got the pulse or surges just before my turbo let go. I had zero mods at the time and the main bearing in the turbo spun @42,000 miles.

Well Hee Haa! Junior Samples and Gomer installed my upgrade. I had the Stage 1 upgrade installed 3 months ago. No real improvement in seat of the pants performance. Max boost I ever saw was 19 psig. Now only about 18. (I know I know, depends on weather and other factors, not a true indication of performance, ect.). I've noticed the shabby job of electrical tape on the connectors and finaly decided to see what was underneath. I see the previous post about $5000.00 crimping tools and had to see for myself the job they performed. I have these nice little weather proof connectors with the insulation peeled off where they were crimped with JC Whitney brand (I assume) butt splice pliers. The connections do seem tight but I am concerned about resistance setting in with age. I would say that the car runs OK. No codes, hesitation, surging, ect. Just a dissapointing expenditure of $800.00 . Oh,bye the way. Have to run premium now and have lost some gas mileage.

You betcha, I got charged with a $150 tab . As it was not covered under the warrenty . However Even thou I can't believe it the car has not run better. Right after leaving the shop on the ramp 22+ lbs boost. I hammer it all weekend and it's running really well. I have to trust the facts It does look like the gauge was an issue. It will be going on ebay next weekend.
