Same thing with me... Give it 3 days and it'll happen. Then I couldn';t go past 5 psi.

cant wait to hear a solution to this problem as I've run into the same thing several times. It wouldn't go past 5psi or it would totally cut out and go limp.

Yesterday they said they think it's the intercooler. I was going to say I have an aftermarket one to install. LOL

Had to get a rental car as well because they said they needed more time with it. They also had to get some test equipment to test the intercooler. weird huh? I'm very curious to what they are going to say is causing the problem. I say it's the Turbo Bypass valve. He said the 5 psi was from the computer not allowing it to go that high in PSI. How could an intercooler do that?

This makes sense to me, but how? Maybe it's an ECU/tuning problem as opposed to a mechanical problem.

not sure if this has been discussed, but i have minor surging under intial acceleration. goes to 7-8psi, then drops, then goes back up, then comes down and does that till about 17psi and stays constant. Anyone else seen or experienced this??

Mine was when I was driving normal and it would surge a tad but enough to be annoying. Then once, I was driving it and boost PSI was at 0 and then it let boost go and then went back to 0 and let the pressure out again. I would assume that this was a Bypass valve problem.

I'm still wondering why they would think that it would be the intercooler. If it had a leak it would always leak.

I'm picking the SS up tomorrow from the deal. They said, the clamps off the turbo wouldn't tighten so I had a leak. All of a sudden clamp don't hold and leak? They want me to drive it for a few days to test it. Um Huh? They also said "GM" said that there is no other HHR SS with a surging problem in the United States. Um Huh?

So I test it for a few days and it goes bad, then what? I'm supposed to be driving to San Diego, CA next week. I need my car to be opperatining 100%

As crazy as it sounds I have seen similar issues because of lose clamps. Tightening the clamps has fixed the inconsistant boost issues.

They may to the point of guessing now?

This may not be it but there is a chance it is.

Got the car back this morning and they said there was a clamp that just would not losen or tighten. They put a better one on and it seems to be working good. They still don't want to close the case for a few more days incase something else is wrong.

So far this morning, it seems to be ok though. I'm just hoping nothing happens on the way to and from San Diego next week.
