This sounds just like what I had with out the code.

Solder in this case will solve nothing if the plug is hitting the AC.

THis is not a common issue but it does happen. I confirmed this with GMPD and they told me what to tell the dealer to do to fix it. There are other here who has the same issue.

THis is a bugger to find as you can't see it on a rack and only happens under road conditions.

I just hope this is what he has as it is an easy fix once you ID the issue.

hyperv6 - thanks for your help on this. If I get it back and they didn't find the problem, I'll try the padding over the connector to see if that fixes it, that way I know to move the IC forward.

I just had a similar problem - When I test drove the car, it would boost around 14-15. After driving it home and starting it again, I got a CEL, and boost around 3-4psi which would drop to 0, despite hearing the turbo spooling up. It took them several days to figure out the problem, despite conferring with GM Performance and me pointing them in the right direction. :|

The entire debacle is chronicled at:

I could still be wrong as there are other things it still could be but this sound like the same cause.

I never got a CEL light but everything else you have said matches.

If you don't have any padding a large sponge of even take some carboard and tape and make something just to keep them from hitting.

The Map is pointed right at the AC compressor and pipe so you should see where to put it when you lay under the nose.

Let me know what they and you find. If it is hitting they should move the IC under warranty.

GM tech may have no idea on this but the people at GM peformance do know about this. If they dealer needs info they need to go to GMPD not the regular tech line.

I do want to add one more thing here. As it is I see the Map hittin the compressor becoming a greater issue in the future.

Even if it is not hitting now as the engine mounts wear and have more give. The SS that are close and not hitting now may hit in the future. Just something to keep in mind as these cars age and if this problem pops up later in the cars life.

I just got my car back and the turbo is working fine, so well see if it lasts. They did some rewiring on the stage kit and put heat shrink around the wires. They said who ever installed the stage kit did a sloppy job. In the past the car has only pulled 23 #'s of boost and now it's pulling 25 #'s. Hopefully the car is good to go now. Thanks again for your help on this.

Hope that was it. So many get bad crimps by tech who did not do them right. Let us know if it comes back.

interesting read...this t map sensor might be the problem of my overboost code....ill have to take a look at it later as my sled overboosts but i have a trifecta tune...ive been messing with the wastegate...as the previous owner might have adjusted it to get more boost out of it...im at the point where if i barely turn the nut on the wastegate it goes over or underboost...maybe this t map sensor has been the culprit the whole time...or a combination of both of them

I would say your issues lie else where. The only ones hitting the AC are the Bosch Map in the Turbo Upgrade kits. They use a Map from a Alfa Romeo and it points the wrong way in a tight space. If you have a stock map it should not hit anything.

Messing with the waste gate can create issues if it is out of wack.
