Continental tires
I can vouch for the Conti DWS's as well. Great tires that beat the h#ll out of any of the OEM tires! I got a great deal too. Disount Tire matched the $151/tire that Tirerack was selling them for. Great handling even in rain, and low noise.
Bit the bullet and had the tire shop order in a set of Extreme Contact DW's for Paddy, I'll get an allowance on the Michelin tires so I don't lose my shirt. Should have the new tires on by Friday, I just had enough sliding around on the Michelins to suit me.
Its been a long time since I "fired" two sets of tires back to back, first the Firehawks on the 2011 and now the Primacys on the 2007. Oh well, Paddy is due to have the rear brakes adjusted, so I'll take care of that while he's on the lift getting new "sneakers".

Really would be interested in what your take is when you get these new shoes on.
I have been looking at some reviews for the Continental ProContact with EcoPlus Technology.
I mentioned before I find the same performance as you with the Michelin Primacy MXV4.
Isn't it strange that I find them very noisy on every road but fairly fresh asphalt pavement.
Well I now have 150 miles on the new Continentals thanks to the usual commute to Charlotte today and some back road rambling yesterday. The verdict so far Silverfox is big thumbs up, very smooth handling with lots of lateral grip, and super quiet compared to the already quiet Michelins that came off.
I never thought the Primacys were noisy unless I hit freshly grooved pavement, then they sang quite loudly along with squirming vigorously until the pavement became worn again.
I think if you decide to install Continental tires you'll be happy, they've made a world of difference on all three HHR's now.

I too put Michelin Hydroedge on my 2007 HHR. Amazing on wet roads. Also have them on my wife's Toyota, same result on wet roads. Have always had positive experiences with Michelin. Also have them on my third car, as well as six 22.5's on our motorhome. Yes you will pay more for them, but IMO you get what you pay for.

Well .. I couldn't get a better comparison that you running the same tire I am and also your super good judgement on all issues.
So it is the DW that you are running on the 2011 .. Right ??
Other then Max. performance tires for those that need them I find the HHR needs a little help in the quietness and softer ride area.
In my case the ride has somewhat been addresesd with the Primacy tire and proper nitrogen pressures to match the load, but the noise thing is still an ongoing struggle.
A good part of the noise is the road conditions here in the Northwest corner of Washington State.
STUDDED TIRES and HIWAYS DON"T MIX ... FOR LONG !!!
I only have 7500 miles on these but in looking at all 4 treads they look like the tit's are just worn off and not much more.
The fronts are perfectly flat all across with no indication of front end normal wear and tear. I am a conservetive driver and seldom drive above 60mph.
That's because the speed limits here are 55 and 60 most eveywhere an they are enforced.
Let me know if anything changes your opinion on the DW's.
Thanks,
SF
I might just put them on the market and see how I would come out making the change.
Yeah, running the DW models on the 2011 and the 2007 Silverfox. We have the DWS variation on the 2006 because in our travels hunting for antique inventory we occasionally encounter snow in the mountains.
I do like the superior traction of both the DW and DWS in the rain, I'm starting to think the Michelin rubber compound is a bit too hard and biased for tread wear rather than overall traction.

I thought the S meant snow D,dry..W,wet ..S, snow. Did you say you were in Sqium ? It doesn't snow there.
