Winter tires/wheels - Feedback please
Winter tires/wheels - Feedback please
After last years winter, I think I am going to bite the bullet and get snows on the SS.
I am currently thinking of dropping down to a 16" X 7.5" wheel (Enkei FN18 gun metal +42) and the Blizzak WS-60 215/55R16's tires.
Has anyone had any experience with either the tires or wheels?
Also, is that size going to be very close to the stock 18" Michelins (P225/45R18)? I know it wont be as wide, but that should help in the snow.

If Putting a 16's On You Might Want to Go with 225 x 55 x 16"
! This Will Be a Closer Match to Your Current Tire Size in O.D. and Width

A friend of mine has had a set of those wheels on his car for a while now. Aside from the damage he's done to them, they're still holding up good. The finish still looks like it did the first day he got them (if he'd ever clean them)
I have a 2006 1LT and have used the Bridgestone Blizzaks for 3 years. They are a great winter tire. I have used Blizzaks for the past 15 years on assorted vehicles.
You mentioned that you would use the 215/55R16 size (which is the factory tire size for the 16" tires). I am using 205/60R16 Blizzaks. The outside diameter is very close, but the tires are about $20 per tire cheaper for a total of $80 less on a set of 4. These prices are the Tire rack prices. It's also generally true that a narrower tire is better in snow.
