Maybe it’s an early built 2010 or very later 2009 SS what is in place of the gauge pod?
the P0016 and P0017 codes , well they don’t pertain to the VVT solenoids!
but both point to stretched timing chain

It has a flip cover and has a spot to hold sunglasses. I will post some photos of the HHR. Just been waiting till it has more work done. I will ask the mechanic to replace the chain and the other parts after he's done trying the actuators.

Steve. All 2010 SS's had the RPD. There were no early ones without it.
If there is no RPD then it wouldn't be able to show boost since the 2010's didn't have the pillar boost gauge.

I wish I had the pillar gauge. I can't find a single gauge pod pillar anywhere. The only thing missing in this HHR is the boost gauge.

If it really is a 2010, and an SS, then it is not missing the boost gauge, it is missing the Reconfigurable Performance Display.

Year is easily found by looking at the 10th digit of the VIN. a 9 would be 2009 an A would be 2010.

I mean it is missing a boost gauge. There is no boost gauge or that ugly display thing on the dash. It was removed by the previous owner. It would be nice to see the boost on the pillar. GM used to have a single pod pillar.

The trim piece with the boost gauge was discontinued awhile back, sometimes they pop up on EBay, perhaps hellshotrod might have one for you. Send him a PM

George here's a how to from the Cobalt forum.
