Upgrade Question

I am looking into getting the turbo upgrade kit, for those of you who have it, did it drop your MPG very much? what do you get now compared to stock? I have the 5spd. and Merry Christmas everyone!

Depends, on how you drive it afterward In city driving, I lost 1.5 mpg during the first 2 months. I couldn't stay out of the boost! But on the highway trips, I gained almost 3 mpg. After you get used to it, you can more accurately measure your mpg gain.

Per GM Prformance reply to me. There is a gain in normal driving of 1-2 MPG.

They said it was unintended but it is there. The cause they feel is the car get up to speed faster and you are off the gas sooner. With Direct Injection the gas is shut off when off the pedal and no fuel is used at all.

Not results may vary as the more you are hammering the car the worse it will be. The fuel worst you will see will be about the same with either.

Mine got worse with stg 1 maybe 2 mi to the gallon but the tire change was worse the F1's have tractor tread and cost a bit to roll so I've got down to 21mpg and up to 25 mpg But once you drive with the stg 1 who cares about the mileage. I'm willing to give up a few dollars for the thrill of it.

Amen, I bought the car for Smiles Per Gallon knowing I was going to be running 93 octane. The power upgrade has only increased that! I would highly suggest the TTR mount upgrade...a shameless plug for the group buy thread in this section

Even with the auto, the TTR upper mount made a big difference. I bought a sway bar and upper mount together. Aaron helped me out with my package deal and I'm sure he can help you out as well. But back on topic, the stage kit is a great bargain. It would a great benefit even more if you had an auto, but you don't. For keeping the 5/100,000, it is a steal. For the most power, look elsewhere. There is my thoughts on this. By the way, Welcome from a fellow Michigander

It got slightly better but I got it done before 10K so it might have gotten better anyway.

From 30-32 in the summer - That's about 500 miles per tank driving like an old fart with one or two 24 PSI white knuckle boost bursts

Mine improved 1-2 mpg in town and a solid 2 mpg highway. 5sp. Can't beat more power with better mileage!
One drawback: Front tire life has diminished noticably. :)
