Mike-

After Paul described the process he does to me (which I am familiar with),
I can see exactly why he doesn't do orders lower than $125..

Too much to re-set up for a different style or etc.... I may be going in a different direction as well.. Time will tell..

Why don't you sand, prime and paint them silver.... Then apply the blue bowtie's ?

iF you leave the edging visable and backdrill the emblem where you can clear rtv a led lite to it..the edges wil glow the color of the led,,backlighting if you will.....keep the voltage lowso its not too bright..just enough for effect....

Thanks for the suggestions.....

What I think I might do is remove them, sand /prep & shoot them white, Clear them a couple coats, (bake & cure). Then lay a brushed silver overlay on top with 1949 'Chevrolet' font letters cut out of center..

So you will only see white edges & white 'Chevrolet' spelled out in middle behind a brushed silver bow-tie that I'm gonna cut myself.....

I'm trying not to make the emblems a major focal point. But rather kinda blend em so to speak..

No led's I'm spending too much time on 2 simple emblems..

You can always use a paint brush and some touchup paint to cover the gold outline. Metallic and pearl colors are harder to brush on, but the black one should work out really well.
