cliffracer.

I just tried to use the bluetooth function threw the rearview mirror/phone icon button and it did not work. The setup only worked with the steering wheel.
I would never thought that. They have total different commands.

2011 bluetooth

Hi, I have another senerio, I just bought a 2011 HHR with bluetooth but no Onstar. Can I just install the module? I have the steering wheel with the controls already. Or, do I have to install the OnStar mirror also?

My 08 Panel LS already had Onstar but wanted factoy Bluetooth through the Onstar controls. I put it in and it works great with my iPhone 4GS/steering wheel controls and radio. Onstar Interrupts music to tell me there is a incomming call....ect...Voice recognition through bluetooth works great also. One problem Siri`s voice and Onstar`s sound alike :)

It was plug-n-play and came with the bluetooth antenna attached.
I added the steering wheel volume controls and a USB radio before.

here is the p/n I used> Bluetooth/Onstar VCIM OEM 20833261

BTW: After I put the new VCIM I called onstar for a free trial and they set me up....HAHA!

Cheers!
So if I understand correctly, My 08 LT that does not have Bluetooth but has OnStar, the steering wheel controls and pioneer speakers can now have Bluetooth by just doing this?

I cant say for sure it will work for you. But if you hold the right wheel mute contol down and get a phone handset icon displayed on your radio theres a good chance it will.

After I got mine working I change the buttons to have the phone print on it.

Thanks for the reply. When I hold it down I get the OnStar ready message verbally and the phone icon does come on. Also, does OnStar still think you car is a different car?

YES: Onstar reps see my 2008 Orange HHR as a 2010 Blue HHR. Thats what it came out of. I read somewhere you can have onstar fix it but I wont bother with it.

A thought on this. If you ever use OnStar to track your vehicle if stolen, the info thay have will not match.

My $0.02

Almost Ready

So I am getting there in my mind that I want to do this. However I still have some things to get straight before I pull the trigger. One is the model number is 20833261 correct? Second the ones that I have been looking at have either 2 antenna connections or 3. What one would I need? And if I do need the one with 3, do I need the antenna as well? And what does it take to remove the old one and put the new one in? Thanks.
