I don’t know why a mechanic would decline the job .
perhaps a machine shop in your area?

Well then you can either do the job yourself or have the arms replaced without the problem solver bearing bushings.

How many places did you take them to in total ?
Was there a reason given why it couldn't be done ?

I read this that he ask at several "machine" shops. Why not just inquire at your local "auto repair" shops ?
Or maybe his term of machine shop is incorrect.

FYI. Several years ago I put ball joints in my Dodge truck. Just went to my neighborhood transmission shop with the a-frames. He had no problem pressing the old ones out, new ones in. In fact, he didn't even charge me for the labor since he's done some tranny work for me before.

To clarify; I started this thread because ALL the repair shops i went to get pricing will only do the complete CONTROL ARM ASSY replacement at an outrageous price. I next explored getting the arms myself and finding an independent mechanic that was willing to use customer supplied parts. In discovering that 'Problem Solver' line i found that the arm assembly offered was the steel version of the arm, and have been warned against using it. At that point i then looked at the possibility of just having the bushing changed out at a automotive machine shop and the aluminum arms R&R'd by a mechanic i found that would work with my supplied parts...That is the genesis of the steps i have taken so far

If you where closer, I’d change the rear bushings for you, but the turnaround time would be to long for you to tie up someone’s hoist.
I could send you a set of LCA’s with the Moog ball joints and problemsolver bearing bushings , I’ve got a set here in the shed, they belong to Beachbum1.
for the cost of the bushings and ball joints and $60.00 that he wants for the arms. If your mechanic will install those

Not that it would practical for the distance in shipping involved (Arizona), about what what would the total be?
