How would you get the arms off so you could take them somewhere for pressing?

Why not have that done, then go to the auto parts store and borrow the tool, then go back to the wimpy shop and press them in at the back door and have them put the arms back? I'd do that and present them with a invoice for outsourced labor.

The tool just takes a couple of turns with a wrench, a vise would help but not required.

Maybe take your smart phone and show the dummy the youtube.

The price of the bushings and ball joints would be what RockAuto sells them at , and yes the shipping to Canada and back would be prohibitive. I’m just offering free labour, some back in the day went to a pick a part yard to get core LCA’s and drill out the rivers and press out the bushings. As Donbrew points out it’s not a very hard job.

I need to do this soon, what are you guys using for sockets? The bushing is pretty big.
I have a 3/4" drive ratchet set and some huge sockets to go with it, but they are still not big enough to match up to the bushing collar or the arm housing.

The ball joints that Moog puts in their LCA dont last very long. 3 years at 7k per year and the drivers side ball joint rubber protector is shot and the ball joint has looseness in it. Gonna replace just the ball joint, not the complete arm this time.

Contrary to popular belief, Moog gets it's parts from China, same as every other vendor of out of production parts.

I switched to the Delphi TC5580 ball joints, they do not include fasteners, so if you are drilling out the rivets, you’ll have to buy 3 M10x 1.25 bolts 145mm long and M10 lock nuts and reuse the pinch bolts or take those in to match up, M10x1.25 bolt I don’t remember the length

Part arrived late yesterday afternoon at the parts store, I'll pick it up today. I do not know the brand name yet. These non greaseable ball joints can probably be drilled and tapped for a grease fitting. The rubber boot cracking caused the failure, letting water and road salt in. 3 years and only 20k isnt a good track record for Moog. They probably saved money on the grease as there wasn't any visible inside the rubber boot. The passenger side LCA was replaced at the same time as the drivers side and that one is still tight and the boot isn't cracked-yet. I'll drill the used ball joint and see if it can accept a grease zerk. Moog - "problem solvers"? or problem starters? lol. Just happy I found it, I was changing the winter tires for summer tires. $60 for the ball joint, $190 for the complete LCA.

I just rebuilt a set of arms for a friend, ordered the Moog K80567 ball joints $46.15 CDN each and ball style rear bushings, K201285 $38.18 each for a total of $168.66 plus taxes and $22.00 shipping
AC Delco arms are over $400.00 a pair
Moog arms are over $267.00 a pair
Mevotech arms are over $242.00 a pair
GM arms are over $250.00 a pair, plus shipping
prices are in CDN funds from RockAuto
my point is you can save money refurbishing the lower control arms yourself.

New ball joint installed. It's a Moog replacement and it is greaseable. It came with all the hardware, bolts, nuts etc. The job was a PIA. Grind rivet heads out, ez enough. Had to use a sawzall to relieve some of the metal so that I could get a chisel under the ball joint bracket.30 minutes later, it popped off. Next, getting to the remaining rivets to drill or tap out requires the lower control arm to be removed. The rearward LCA nut stripped of course and now it wont tighten back up. Had enough room to pivot the arm backwards and get at those rivets anyway. In the process of working it, the CV axle joint slipped apart, so the strut had to come off, the rotor and axle nut too. Brake caliper removed. okay, slide cv joint back together, reinstall everything. Now I have to get that LCS bolt and nut repaired before it falls out. If I had to do it over again, I'd just take the forward LCA bolts ( 2) out and dont touch the rear one. It will swing far enough backwards to allow a drill and punch/hammer to remove remain rivets out. Lesson learned.
