Hmmm. I don't believe you can just "get rid" of the proportioning valve. You have to have one or your brakes would be getting equal pressures front and rear. Thus the rears would try to lock up under moderate to heavy braking.
(weight tranfer to front with braking).
I could be wrong here but never heard of deleting that valve.

Gunna throw out an opinion here. Why do you need discs? I understand on the SS. But I've had two other cars with four wheel discs. And the HHR stops just as good in my opinion. I do think discs and calipers look better inside the wheel. However it wouldn't make me want to switch to them. Seems like a lot of work to make a little bit of difference.

The drums last a long time and make next to know dust. I don't mind having them. But that's why the world is so great. Everyone likes different things.

And for another opinion: Nothing I have had stopped better than my 4 disc, plastic-fantastic Saturn SC2. It has saved my a$$. I'm all for 4 disc. My SS with 4 disc stops better than my old 2LT for sure.

^That pretty much answers it for me. The Drums also fail to self adjust, miserably.
So your stopping more on your front disks than anything if you don't keep adjusting the rear drums.

So adding 4 wheel disks adds looks, more reliable and less maintenance.

I'll be adding several performance mods, ZZP 2.4 performance cams already installed in a 2.4 ported cylinder head, Ecotec ARP head stud kit, bad mab header, ZZP high flow catted 3" to 2.5" downpipe, Eaton M62 Supercharger and all that goes with that install cooling mods ect. Turbo Tech Racing upper motor mount and TTR front and rear trans mounts.

I'm in no hurry to do a brake swap, just on my list of wanted to do things. If I came across a Cobalt or HHR SS rear axle for a sweet Deal, I would try getting it.

Engine mods are going on next, but eventually I would want to put rear disk brakes on my 2LT Panel.

BTW, I have read some BAD things about that "OEM" company, Beware.

I get why you would need them. More power. It's also nice to stop too.

However I've seen people do the conversion with a stock HHR. All in personal preference I suppose.

Like I said before OEM has gotten mixed reviews. CobaltSS.net ppl really dont like them but in the j-body.org community they are ok. So it is what it is. Just throwing another option out there.

I have both and the 2lt seems to stop easier, but it is always going much slower So I guess we will have to throw the Brembos on the SS.

I have completed the swap on my 2 lt with a cobalt ss rear beam, and have brembos up front, you will need to make sure you have the parking brake cables as well for the rear, when they are adjusted properly the pedal feel is noticeable better. i have a thread on page 2 under bakes and suspension with pics if you wanted to look at it, the swap is extremely easy.
