Well I did, and I saw nothing wrong with it either. So you ask him to take off the .com stuff fine, but what took place was an embarrasment.
I appriciate everyones input! Really, I do. Some will agree, some will disagree with changes or not so changes that will/will not be made.
Bottom line, your voice is your vote, place your vote and enjoy the HHRs!
This doesn't have anything to do with .com's. I think that is covered only in the general forum rules (that nobody reads :P ). I don't think it was ever explicitly stated in the featured submission rules b/c as of a week ago, it was never an issue. and I really don't think a sticker ad on a window or anything like that would call for exclusion.
This started as a photo contest. If you read the past, and look at the previous winners many are parked in beautiful places or in front of landmarks. It was not meant to be about mods. Snap shots are easy to come by. Thinking ahead for the right location, time of day ect. is the key to great pics. Mild or wild, sedan or panel they are all HHRs and if you are here you should be able to choose which one you like the best each month. One catagory is plenty, just present the best pics you can produce and go for it.
I said I was going to keep my opinion to myself, we'll I lied! My understanding is that its based on the creativity of the photo. Since we all own HHRs its cool to look at different settings and places we take pics of our HHRs. To me my HHR is always HHR of the month and I post pics here to share with others. If I don't win; who cares! Do I think the rules need to be tweeked? If the winner got a prize of some value; yes I do, but to have a little bitty picture of your car in the upper corner put up for less than a month; no I don't. I swear I feel like I'm in a Corvette Forum! GROW UP!
What have I learned?
1)There are some real diehard HHR people, that are as passionate about their vehicle as I am of my children. That's not a bad thing ,it's good to have something that makes you feel warm inside. Another name for it is pride.
2)The possibility exists of manipulating the outcome of the results. Anyone wanting to win this contest that bad, needs to read tiremans quote. Just the last two words will be sufficient!

I come here to have fun and help others and some of you that I have helped have astounded and disappointed me with your posts. For the last two hours I have been reading this thread, looking at all the prior winners and the posts that came in those featured threads and then re-reading this thread again, until I got to a point where I wasn't having fun anymore.
So admin/mods look hard at these postings, please keep it a one category contest, change what needs to be changed, fix this contest so that it's fun and fair for all or get rid of it! It would be nice if something positive came out of all this negativity.
Thanks TkHHR and tireman for showing me the light on this subject.
My rant is over, so I'm taking my ball and going home........

Wow! How much prize money is at stake here? Must be a lot, with folks getting flamed & offended, apologetic. If it's real big money, then it's not fair because I didn't submit my pictures yet. Could you all wait until I get a new camera? As far as the commercial bit goes, there are many nice HHR's that happened to be used for business purposes, many tricked-out, nice paint, 2 tones, with nice graphics. They deserve to be seen (and judged) as well. Bottom line is that we ALL like the looks of HHR's, we all win.
I hope to submit my 2 tone HHR with my commercial logo and website. My website is included on the graphics of the truck, not as a line across the bottom. It is still a work of art that some thought, time and money went into, and deserves to be seen. I did get an honorable mention from the NJ Englishtown Ecotec meet posting, with a partial picture, but my logo graphics feature a direct competitor to their sponsor, Mobil 1.

I have been a part of a few other national car club forums and on all of these sites, everyone could submit photos of their cars and then the administators would pick the winner out of a hat and post it on the home page for a month as the " Car of the Month". Maybe this could be an easier alternative to the problems here. This gives everyone a fair chance, stock or custom.
When so few members take the time to vote, then does the "winner" really represent the will of the membershio? This last month saw probably the most votes and the total was still only a little more that a hundred out of almost 6000 members. Perhaps it's time for the car of the month to be a selection of the site owner and moderators, or perhaps a committee of long-time members selected by the mods. If a vote by members is still preferred, why not limit it to Premium Members, i.e. those who have paid to support this site? Clearly changes need to be made and I trust JonyyB and the moderators to make the necessary changes.
Man, if there is this much confusion/problems/complaints about a contest that only lets you feel good about your ride...... Maybe the contest should just die. If you have to "cheat" to win at a contest that means nothing to most everyone other than a brief moment of online braggin rights. Then your just sad. Seems like most would like to see a minimum post count (10 is very low IMO) and/or 30 days registered. I know on a big truck site I am a member of (90K+ members and I am member 7737, so I've been there a while). There the only requirement for a minimum anything is selling and you have to have a minimum of 50 posts to do so. Here's the kicker, your post count only goes up on technical forums, not the BS ones. So if you just come to BS around and not actually offer anything techinical, your post count does not go up. And you see who really "gives" to the site verses the rest.
Watermarks on a photo, lots do that do protect that photo for being used other places. I know at least once someone here has complained about their photo's being used other places. Maybe take off the www if it's on there and just use you user name. But if that in itself bothers the voter, then don't vote for that one.
I only host my photo's in one location, if that's against the rules, I guess winning is out for me
. One location works for me and keeps my photo's together verses spreading them around. Plus this site has went down many times more than my host. But that's my choice. I may stick one on here ever so often, but that will be rare.
Stock/modified/custom/show..... It's a photo contest I though, so the entire image should be what is being voted on. Not mods (granted mods do stick out). But if that is the case, then maybe a defination of what "mods" are should be defined. Cause I've seen some that list mods and they are more of a Pep Boys special.
This was the first photo I ever took of mine, it even had the tempory pass taped to the windshield. It never won any contest, but I always like the way it turned out.

Bottom line to me is that is you see something "funny" report it and let the site handle it. If you want to vote on the contest, then vote what you like.
