Like the 09 design-don't want to spend $$ on it though

I like the '09 cupholder design as well, but unless I got the console top and insert for free or if it were inexpensive, I don't think that it is of such value to me that I would go out and spend money on it at my local GM parts dealership ($$$$$) for my '08. I'd rather save it for another upgrade that would yield greater benefit to me.

The cupholder design is certainly better nevertheless.

What I do not see in the '09 is the small rectanguar storage slot that is next to the e-brake slot (just aft of the cupholders). I found this niche a perfect place to stand my wallet up on long trips, where I'd rather not be sitting on it.

Perhaps it is only the rubber insert (part ref #2 in the 1st sketch) that is missing from the sketch in post #1 or out of view in the pic in post #5. Or maybe it was simply deleted in '09?

I just slid one of these between my passenger seat and the console. It sits atop the parking brake handle. I then installed a cardboard center tube from an empty 4" wide masking tape(moving tape) roll. It adds height so that 12 oz paper cups wont flop over.

I'm guessing you don't use your e-brake then.

I just put that part number, 25863539, in at GM Part Direct and it comes up at only $59.13! Doesn't seem to give the option of color choice, but hey Duplicolor ain't that much!
