2008 HHR - bit of gas fume

UPDATE: It's been almost a year since I tried to seal the top of the fuel tank around the 3 yellow vents. Result: Failure! Fuel smell is back when the tank is full. Gets better as the tank empties. I can see new staining coming off the top of the tank with a mirror (now that I know where to look). No dripping. Very strong fuel smell is back.
I just purchased a used tank off an 09 with 87K miles. Still has the pump installed and all vent lines. It also leaks around 2 of its yellow tank vents when tipped on its side. I've searched to the corners of the internet and cannot find a parts breakdown of the "fuel tank assembly". OEM part numbers 20866941, 22719576, and 25791101. These yellow vents do not seem repairable. New tank is $500+. I see no other option but to purchase a new tank. Anyone have a better solution? Thanks.

fuel proof RTV? It comes in different grades, I know Plumber's Goop sticks really well to ABS and HDPE. Did you rough up the tank surface?
As far as I know all 2009-2011 tanks should be the same, earlier models are not flexfuel and SS might be different.

I did sand the surfaces before gluing around the plastic vents. That glue was expensive so I really tried to follow its instructions to the letter. Seemd sealed for the first few months but then the smell returned.
I was thinking a used tank from a colder part of the country might be a cheaper alternative to new. Maybe I'll try a different glue. It's just a hassle to remove and install the tank.

Plumber's Goop stick very tightly to HDPE and stays flexible. I have used it to seal spigots on dry wall compound buckets that hold very hot water. I have tried to get it to release with acetone with no result. I don't know about gasoline.
