how to replace wheel bearings
#2
The hubs/bearings are covered by the 5/100,000 powertrain warranty on 2007 and newer models, but if you're going to do the work yourself, just click the link below for the "How To" thread.

(Please see the correction below in post #4, the warranty doesn't extend to your friend's model year, my apologies)

According to this thread, the bearings are not covered by the powertrain warranty for the 2010-2011 year models.

Good catch George!
My apologies to the OP, just plain slipped my mind that GM dropped bearings from the warranty on the 2010's and 2011's.
I will now go bang my head against the wall, and have more coffee.

The Zurich Comprehensive Extended Warranty plan includes Wheel bearing coverage for 2010 and 2011 HHR's for the life of the policy you choose.
Anybody wanting to add this Extended coverage might want to consider 2 things.
1. If you have Bumper to Bumper now, which you need to qualify, you should get in and apply before the last day or mileage limit. ie: 36,000 miles or 36 months. I would suggest allow a week.
2. Be sure to make the decision before the end of any Calander Year as the Insurance Co's go buy calendar not model year in their pricing calculations.
I would suggest December 26th or earlier to apply.
