I still don't know why anybody think it makes any difference when you are replacing the chain. You turn the crank to TDC then turn the cams to line up with the marks on the chain TIMED.
Life is a bit easier if you take the old chain off with the cams lined up to the marks on the chain and don't care about the crank mark. It takes a lot of turns to get all 3 marks to line up, only a few to line just the cams up.
After the chain is installed it is virtually impossible to check the valve timing by looking at the marks.
