What Did You Do To Your HHR Today?

I got the rotors and ceramic pads, from Crossdrilledrotors.ca and the caliper brackets from LT1GMC are now back from powder coat. just to cold today to install, maybe tomorrow!

Had a bit of time to putz around with the HHR these last few days. I fixed the broken brake booster connector on the intake manifold with some hardware from Lowes, some clear tubing, and some JB weld. Rattle canned it black, and no one will ever be the wiser.
I also put the engine back together, and in the moment of truth, she fired like a champ! It's running a bit off at the moment, but I'm hoping to drop the fuel tank and flush the lines and tank before my work week starts again. I also couldn't track down all the hardware to bolt the intake manifold to the head, so it's just held on with the two studs. This could be another reason it's running off at the moment, as i"m sure there is a huge vacuum leak all around it. A quick trip to the scrap yard and now I have all the hardware on hand.
Now that I have rebuilt the entire top of the engine, timing chain and wear parts, cams, lifters, rockers, and so on, I'm hoping the bottom half of this engine is still good, or it will all have to come out again.
On an unrelated note... At the scrap yard I pulled an awesome retro seat out of a conversion van I'm making into an office chair. Seats at the scrap yard... 60 bucks. It's a ugly seat from the 70s... still 60 bucks... This upset me. I wanted to pull out the 3rd seat too, but I can only imagine how much they want for that. It would be cool to have as a couch in my office/Jam room, but not at highway robbery prices like that.

Well today I went out all bundled up from the cold and swapped out the LS/LT 276 mm rotors for the 296 MM SS rotors and caliper brackets, easy swap as several have stated ( Solman98 and voigts ) Thanks to LT1GMC for the caliper brackets, they Powdered coated nice, after a 60 mile trip and 5 60 to 0 stops to seat the pads in , no jutters when stopping, tomorrow I will adjust the rear drums and continue the test, and I will post when any juttering comes back!

adjusted up the rear drum brakes, and went out for coffee. So far these 296MM SS brakes are awesome compared to the 276 mm stock LS/LT set up. later today off to the car wash to drop a toonie and rinse off the fender solvent.

I would suggest caution with an Intake Leak, Lean condition could burn some valves..
