It got to 80 degrees yesterday, so I washed the car. Cooler weather coming today. Amazing how much temperature differential there is in Florida within 200 miles.

Ecpff. I noticed the wipers up with the car turned off. If you turn on the car with them frozen in place, the wipers are going to try to return to their "parked" position. Be careful and don't rip the blades off or worse, break something in the wiper transmission.

Wait till it thaws or deice it before you start the car.

X2 on that, the wiper transmission and linkage are known weak spots on an HHR, so let it thaw or break the blades free and scrape the windshield before cranking it up.

I see wipers up like this a lot up here and wonder why? this will snap a cold wiper transmission link or at least dislodge the wiper blade or arm

In theory, because I was told to park the wipers like that when I lived in Buffalo, it makes it easier to brush the snow off and scrape the windshield.

But, and it's an important "but", do the brushing and scraping before you start the engine. Otherwise, "you're gonna break something".

Thanks for the tip, we don't ever see ice like we did last night and today so I would have not caught the wiper issue. I went out and pulled the blades off the windshield and started up the car. They began to operate and I quickly turned them off. Once the windshield thawed I put them back down and they operate fine.

Mine are still stuck to the cowl on my old truck. Even after a 12 mile ride up to Wally World w/defrost on. They park below the windshield/defrost area.
My SS went into hibernation in the garage 5 days ago. Heard about the ice coming here and just parked it.

Got update on progress. Better be a camera angle trick. The top edge of fender bulge at door doesn't look right.

Wheel well to the fender behind the door doesn't appear to match either.

Appears to be set to high.
