Fired one up to head over to the Napa store, our "free" Toyota needs pads, rotors, shoes, and wheel cylinders.

So far the free car has absorbed $500 in parts, once again proving that "free" ain't necessarily free in the purest sense.

Maybe tomorrow I'll have enough of a shine worked back into "Eugene" to post a pic or two without dying of embarrassment.

It's bad enough in a small town where they call you Mr. Chevy, to be seen buying parts for a "Brand T" car, but now my buddies are suggesting accessories for the beast. "Oooh Mike, I saw some pretty little ladybug mudflaps at the flea market, they'd be just adorable on that Camry you done got", etc.

Today the wife and I took a drive up to Amish country and stopped by Kidron Ohio and took a pic by an old pick-up and pump. Got 33 Mpg! Way better than the 27 the LT panel gets...john

New brake pads for the front. Went with the duralast gold ceramics with the lifetime warranty. I'm hoping I picked the right pads. I let the guy at autozone talk me into them. No more pulse braking!

Careful George, that dang thing can read minds.

The brake job went well, but they always do when you throw everything in the scrap bin and start over fresh.

And just so the HHR's didn't feel left out, I adjusted all of the rear drum brakes on the three "runners", #4's shell will be coming home by the end of the month.

Plus I rotated the tires on the HHR's and my wife's Fiat, now I'm officially pooped out.

Yesterday, got up early to get back on the road, the drivers side wiper, I notice is broken, 5.30 am no stores open, we hit the highway, anyway. Awhile later something jumped off the pavement and punctured the left rear tire near Hardeeville. Tire Kingdom was open replaced the damaged tire and back on the road. We arrived safe and sound around 6 pm
