Regardless, the previous statement about triage recall of classes of cars is complete bull.
Yes, I take her statements before Congress with a large grain of salt. I hope she is being truthful; one thing's for sure: She isn't giving any answers that haven't been thoroughly researched and rehearsed by GM's liability lawyers.

I hope she is being truthful too... It will only take one email or certified memo for her to get some serious jail time. I would never want to have to testify in front of the Senate under oath, but if I did I would make sure that 100% honesty passed my lips.

IT was all on TV!!!!!!! She was very careful to not commit to anything. The testimony is out there, I don't see a need for amateur legal opinions.

Calm down King Aires.

I'm disgusted with all the big car manufacturers, but I will never leave GM, have to have my Chevy. Other manufacturers kill people too, Toyota killed a few, lied about the gas pedal sticking then got fined $$$$$$$$. Ford has been killing their drivers for years, Pinto fires, Explorer rollovers (seen a couple of those happen), spontaneous fires, etc. etc. They all spend millions covering their a**, probably would be cheaper to just fix the dam problem the first time.

The next part will be sarcasm.

If all the customers were dead they wouldn't have to deal with complaints any more. I suppose that's what "BIG BIZ" is really trying to do. It is much more important to make life easy than to make money.

This has been sarcasm.

Was that enough notice?

Skimmed this topic, interesting how many GM owners want to skin GM alive.

A 4x4 forum I frequent is more concerned about whether or not this is politically motivated.

"politically motivated" - that was my thought as I watched some of the government reps doing what I thought was a lot of grandstanding.

But this philosophy about "anything to save a life" gets a bit tiring. Oh, to go back to the day when the co-workers main decision on which vehicle to buy was determined by the number of cup-holders it had.

The HHR would have failed the cup holder test in every way in every year! Should have been recalled for those things alone!

Seriously, I have run off the road and hit a guard rail at low speed trying to pick my coffee cup up. That's for real, think I have a case now?

I'd commence litigation on the coffee vendor first, obviously the design of the cup lacked sufficient visual aids in order for you to find it without kissing the guardrails.

And yes I'm being sarcastic, and I do agree with mongo on the distinct possibility of political motivation as Senators and Congressional members seek to add feathers to their caps. Lest we forget, 2014 is a mid-term election year.
