My parts showed up today... getting the horn/airbag off took about a minute... getting the wire with the plug for the cruise control on it out was a PITA. If I would have just cut the wires it would have only taken a minute but I messed with that plug till I got it out. The original wiring was routed under the metal thing that holds the steering wheel on and there was hardly enough room to get that plug threw.. once I got it out I just plugged the new harness in but did not run the wires like they did from the factory. Aside from that and a few horn honks from pushing the horn/airbag back on it was pretty darn EZ and works just fine. =)

A big THANKS to STEINYWIHHR for sharing this mod with us all. How did you learn how to do this anyway?

Oh... and I did not disconnect the battery... I really don't see how you could set off the airbag myself.. it just hung there by it's wires no problem but if you're worried about it then by all means disconnect it... the battery that is not the airbag.

I think I got the wrong harness... GM Part # 15234343 looks just like my current harness. There are 4 pinouts to the cruise control/DIC and 2 to the ground. There is nothing for the audio control. I can't imagine, but is this correct?

It better be right 'cause that's one of the parts I'm waiting on.

That's not the right harness.... mine had an extra plug for the radio controls.. they sent you the wrong one... looks like the correct part number though. Yup..... I ordered part #15234343 as well... somebody just messed up and put the wrong part in the wrong box.

Just received a copy of the wheel assembly drawing and while not exactly totally a good drawing, I can see that it should have 2 connectors and a ground connector.

That's correct.

Where did you get the drawing from?

From a buddy who is the Parts Manager at a local dealer. He just called and said the part is on back order.
