If you really want this mod you can get the dealer to do it for you. Order the parts through the dealership and ask them to install them. It should be 1/2 hour labor. It is a little more expensive that way but you will have the upgrade and a great upgrade it is. Mine is in use every day.

If airbags were as dangerous as people try to make them sound thieves would not be stealing them in the dark of night.

I’ve had most every airbag electrical connector apart, with no problems.

I imagine the original early units did not have all the shorting connectors/contacts as safety measures built in. In case readers do not realize it most every connector has shorting bars inside the connector that short out the ignition/activation leads of the airbag and wiring. The act of plugging the connectors together removed the shorting bars and completes the connection.

Dumb question I know but have to ask, Does the HHR 09 steering wheel w/radio buttons plug right in and bolt right up? Is it easier to install new steering wheel with buttons then the conversion?
Thanks from a Tech Tard in waiting :)

It should if it's the same year car. those pesky color code change order on the connectors should be the only problem with any year. You do know you'll still have to remove the air bag.

Remember after you get installed it only changes to the pre program stations,I don't use it all a waste of time and money.
