At least the base radio in the 2009 is totally redesigned due to a vendor change. Actually the vendor switched from Pioneer or Panasonic(can't rememember which) to Delphi. The window switches have also changed from the center console to the doors. There maybe more or less on the SS, I have the LS.

You may be able to, But I know the HHR's changed in 2009 from 2006-2008 models. I would take voltage readings from a lit up LCD on the I/P Cluster, and see what it reads! Post some pics too if you could. It should work, but i can't guarantee that. Good Luck. Keep us posted.

King, great write up. I wish I had half the skill you have. It is posts like this that keep enthusiasts alive and sharing. If everyone was content to leave factory cars alone, we wouldn't be here. We'd be driving slow, boring matching boxes around.
Individuality, boredom, creativity, and unselfishness are what I see.
Great mod. I dont trust myself to do such tedious work. But I would consider buying all the parts and sending them to someone who could, and paying handsomely for it. The end result is phenomenal.

That's pretty easy. There are two screws located in the handle of the door, under the black rubber insert. and there is a third screw where the actual open handle is. there is a small black cover, pop the cover off to reveal he screw. Once you have all three screws out, then the rest just POP's out and is only held by clips. I usually start by the top of the dor panel by the mirror, once you have that free continune along the side and bottom as you release the clips. after you are all done, the panel should be able to be wedged up and out. There will still be things attached to it tough, like the lock switch harness and the lock cylinder cable.
