I'm pretty sure that unless you are offered a share in the "authorship" of the book, you would still be a "contributor", that's something to be discussed with the author. As a contributor you'd not be entitled to any income derived from the sales of the book, but as a contributor you should expect some form of payment up front unless you just do it as a favor.
Under copyright law, contributors have no rights of ownership in regards to the finished work, as opposed to authors who have rights of ownership and intellectual property.
