Ouch!
Oh no. That's awful. So will your insurance pay for it, or is the deductible high and not worth it (like ours is)? What a pain. My daughter had just got her minivan in Arizona when a painter's ladder fell off the back of his truck into her front... I wonder what their ruling was. Well, keep us up to date on this... and photos would be great, if painful to see.
So sorry to hear about your daughter I hope everyone is ok. I can't say I've never lost anything out of a pickup or trailer while moving because I have. However I wasn't doing 60 on the interstate and I did the best I could to secure what I was moving, and dang sure stopped when I did lose it. I would take responsibility had it ever caused damage. I had a laugh as to and photos would be great, If! Painful To See? I'm sure that isn't what you meant. I have a $150. Deductible and am willing to bet it's almost $1000. in damage, I will post some pictures just to show how much of an impact these head lights can withstand.

Well some might find this interesting I sure did, I was visited by my Ins. co. appraiser this morning. He to was impressed but how well the HHR took the hit, he really likes these cars. He stated that in the accidents involving HHRs he has investigated, the cars do a great job keeping the occupants safe. He also stated in a comparison that the PT fairs extremely worse and is far more expensive to repair. I thought it was a funny question when he asked me where the battery was before I even popped the hood. I did know this but he said the PT has the battery in under the front finder and you have to remove your fender to get to it. Anyone else ever hear of this, I guess being an adjuster he would know, but that sure seems strange. Not to mention a total pain in the rear, lol I guess where our batteries are located isn't so bad. It was good to hear the opinion of someone in the field who see's actual accident involving different makes of cars and having them give the HHR a high rating.
Some of the chrysler line put the battery in the fender wall. I know some mentioned it in a thread on here, I think it was a sebring. Dont forget the HHR had a five star rating on crashes.
I had to get my fender repaired due to mishap, it was cheap to get new one then to repair it. the new fender was $135. Body shop said it was one of the cheapest they seen one.

I had a somewhat similar situation with my HHR a couple months back. A tractor trailor hit a road construction plaque and sent it pummeling into the hood of my car. It made a nice dent in the hood...somehow came across the drivers side and dented the passenger door on the drivers side.
My insurance covered it under a road hazard type arrangement (like a stone chipping the windshield) and it only cost me a $50.00 deductible.
I hope your ordeal turns out alright!

I was aware of the 5 star rating, but to hear an ins. adjuster confirm all the good press was impressive. He was asking all kinds of questions, as to comfort, power, and being a fun ride. I offered to let him drive mine but he said he was busy would maybe another time. I love all the excitement this car generates, everyone stops us to ask question.
Hope you get the trucker's insurance to cover this. Either way, letters to all your state legislators need to go out as soon as possible. That's crazy that drivers are not accoutable for items that fall off their vehicles. Most states have detailed laws about how items must be secured and what ticket they will get if something falls off.
Well it seems here the laws like so many others are only enforceable if the infraction is seen by a officer. The traffic officer I spoke with said even if he had seen it happen since it hit the ground and another car before it struck our car it was a road hazard. Like restraining orders, you almost have to carry a cop in your pocket for the order to do you any good. However the adjuster did say that since it was reported to the police and I had so much information my Ins. co. would pay for the repairs and then go after his Ins. co. they have more time to deal with it and deeper pockets. Also these accidents do not add points to your driving record, which I was glad to hear. He said Ins. Companies view unsecured loads which are covered under Texas laws, what they hold the offender responsible for and cover the accident victim on.
