Oil Leak?

I could use some help with this....

I need to identify where this Oil Leak is coming from... I can't really afford yet to pay a mechanic to take anything apart to inspect it; nor do I have the ability to do it myself...

A Lube Shop that recently did my oil change, took this following picture; you can see where a couple drops of oil are forming...

If anyone is familiar with whats shown in this picture, and has an idea of whats causing the leak... and perhaps has an idea of what most mechanics would usually charge to fix it... the info would be much appreciated!

I can post a larger, higher resolution, image if needed...

I am going to presume that based on the picture... the oil drops may be forming somewhere deeper in or further above whats seen in the picture, and then running down to where they're seen in the picture.

But I can't really tell; and I have no idea what it is that I'm looking at ... what parts are visible...

Oil dripping off the bottom of the starter, usually means the oil filter dripping oil when the filter was changed! Post a picture of your oil filter cap area

You mean the plug thing... where the oil is drained from, when its changed?

He showed me a picture of that but didn't send me a copy of it. But it was fine, no oil coming from it... and he doubled checked it for me to make sure it was secured properly.

I can see that the side of the engine is filthy with oil, leading me to guess the valve cover gasket or the oil filter cap is leaking.

You don't have the ability to open the hood and look at the engine? I keep forgetting that I can't do that anymore. Get someone that can to look at it to locate the spot where it turns from dry to wet. The theory being that gravity pulls the liquid down, so there will be a dividing line which is where the liquid is coming from

Check the oil pressure switch which is hidden directly above the starter.

The oil filter cap is located on the driver side of the engine just to the right of the intake manifold and down. The round black piece with the hexagon on it

And the oil pressure switch will be below and back under from that cap housing.

Well, considering that I did not know what the Oil Filter Cap was.... then such would imply that I... did not know, that I could look under my hood and see it.

I presumed it was something that was UNDER the car; which crawling under and poking around is NOT something I can do... considering a bad back, and bad knees, resulted from an old car accident...

But now that I know, what it is, and where it is.... (thanks to those who posted pictures of what it looks like!) then I know what to look for and can check it later today, and I'll post a picture of there looks to be a problem with it!

I did say that I can't open my hood and look under it anymore, I wish that I was joking.
